MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau’s station in Pasay City and two other areas are reporting the highest heat index temperature, which falls under the “danger category” for Monday, April 14.
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) station in Pasay City, as well as in Echague, Isabela and Sangley Point in Cavite, are forecast to report a heat index temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, which already falls under the “danger category,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa said its Naia station has reported a “danger” level heat index since April 10.

Ranging from 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius, the heat index under the “danger” category could likely cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued exposure to the sun.

42 degrees Celsius
- Baler, Aurora
- Iba, Zambales
- Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
- Camiling, Tarlac
- Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac
- Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
- Cuyo, Palawan
- Virac, Catanduanes
- Iloilo City
- Dumangas, Iloilo
- La Carlota, Negros Occidental
- Catarman, Northern Samar
- Zamboanga City
- General Santos City
- Butuan City, Agusan del Norte
Behind the danger category are “extreme caution,” ranging from 33-41 degrees Celsius, and “caution” at 27-32 degrees Celsius.
“Extreme danger”, or the highest category of heat index level, is declared when the heat index temperature reaches 52 degrees Celsius and beyond.

Heat index measures the level of discomfort an average person experiences due to the combined effects of the temperature and air humidity.
On March 26, Pagasa announced the start of the dry season in the country.
