With the UK Govt confirming they won't be funding Casement Park for the Euros
This means that if England and if one or both of Scotland/Wales qualify, Ireland will automatically qualify as one of host nations

'It's A Beautiful Thing': Troy Parrott Was Beaming After Making History For Alkmaar | Balls.ie
Troy Parrott scored 4 goals as AZ Alkmaar made history by recording their biggest ever Eredivisie victory after a 9-1 win over Heerenveen.
www.balls.ie
Troy Parrott's time in the Netherlands is going from good to even better as he scored four goals as AZ Alkmaar made history last night in the Eredivisie.
The Irishman has impressed since making the move to AZ from Tottenham over the summer after a successful loan spell at Excelsior Rotterdam, despite failing to score in his first three outings.
However that changed last night as he got on the scoresheet four times as AZ beat Heerenveen 9-1 and made history in doing so, recording their biggest ever victory in the Eredivisie.
It stayed 2-1 heading into halftime but AZ came out of the blocks firing in the second with Parrott scoring his second, third and fourth goal within 11 minutes of the second half starting to put AZ 5-1 up. The scoring didn't stop there as a succession of goals late on gave Alkmaar the history making win.
Speaking with ESPN after the match Parrott spoke about finally breaking his goalless streak.Obviously for me as a striker it's disappointing not to score in the previous games because I always want to score goals. But I don't stress over these things, it's normal, this is football you can't play every game perfect. I understand this and I believe in my own ability and I believe the team that we've got here is a really good team and we will create chances and tonight that happened and I was there.

Please God it's true

Dundalk discussions 'critical' for the future of club
Dundalk have said that the next 24 hours are "critical" for the future of the Oriel Park side.

Dundalk have said that the next 24 hours are "critical" for the future of the Oriel Park side.
The County Louth club have also expressed concern over what they have described as "a lot of false information spread about the club on social media".
Talks are ongoing, according to the club, between the owner and interested parties both domestically and from oversees in a bid to secure the future of the club.
Dundalk are currently sitting rock bottom in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division and are in grave danger of getting relegated, while there have been issues at the club regarding staff not getting paid in recent weeks.
The club confirmed that both players and coaches had received outstanding wages last Thursday, while they have committed to remaining transparent throughout the ongoing talks relating to the ownership of the club.

I haven't been keeping up to date on the ins and outs of this but at a high level how a club that was hitting the heights not that long ago finds itself in its current situation all seems a bit crazy...is anyone answerable?

The money players are on, is very high at some clubs
Was Scottish championship manager on a podcast a few weeks back saying his team and others in Scotland can't compete with the LOI as they are getting 2k a week here where they can't even offer half of that

I posed that question previously, especially after their European adventures. Obviously mismanagement, but by whom. When you think of all the volunteers etc, must be sickening to see this. Hopefully Dundalk pull through, big club in Irish terms.

John O Connor had all our accounts for last few years online, il try find it shortly.
Basically in 2016 we made 3million after expenses and the 2020 group stage during covid we didnt make any profit.
The 3 million was spent on budget for 17 and 18, 500k to council for outstanding fees, new astro pitch was 300k and the training facilities including gym, video room, press room, canteen, indoor training pitches which are top class cost close to 700k
According the accounta released over last few years of clubs wages are between 1.2million for Sligo who wouldn't have a big budget at all and 2 million for the likes of Derry, Rovers

Foot.ie gives Dundalk an AVG. Attendance of 2,400, so what, 15 eur for the average ticket? Giving gate receipts of say 35k per game, by say 20 home games = 800,000. I assume fund raising and prize money probably gives total income of about 1.2m or so? Looks like it's a bit of a gamble to qualify for Europe each year, that's where the big money is, hence the extra spend?

So it looks like they had the cash available for the upgrades which should mean the didn't need to get a loan etc. All clubs probably went through the same experience with covid so they must have been spending money somewhere they didn't have, or taking said allocated money out? I'm sure it will all come out eventually when the books are looked at. Are questions being asked about the role of the FAI in all this..do they or should they have had a role in oversight?

Teams are def gambling on Europe. The likes of Galway, Pats, Waterford, Rovers and Derry, even Drogheda now would have someone funding the difference. Sligo and Bohs seem to be the only ones not running at a loss

According to the reports from FAI AGM this was brought up about how we got a licence for the season, the FAI say we already had licence before the takeover so that's how it went through.
The FAI (and our previous owners who are local) need to explain how they sold the club to someone who didnt have enough funds alone and was promising investors to come in bridge the gap

FAI promise to close ownership 'loophole' with Dundalk, as club has €1 million debt
The club need to find a new buyer by 5pm today or else face the worst.
www.thejournal.ie
THE FAI ADMIT they must address a “loophole” in their background checks on LOI club owners with today “critical” as to the continued existence of Dundalk.
Dundalk have debts of more than €1 million, with owner Brian Ainscough, seeking to offload the club he took over in December last year.
Hopes of finding a new owner to maintain the club’s viability took a hit over the weekend, with a group led by American investor Jeffrey Saunders withdrawing their interest. Dundalk must now find a saviour by 5pm today or likely face the worst.
In a statement released on Sunday night, the club said Monday is “critical” to the club’s future and said Ainscough was in discussions with different groups, both domestically and overseas.

The glaring "loophole" was Delaney, he ran rings around the Board with his side quorums and still they don't go after monies he abused through his personal expenses.
